NC Maritime Museum at Southport

The museum is back open after Hurricane Florence roared through the area. Many roads are now clear heading back into the Southeastern part of the state and this is a wonderful place to see. Check with the NCDOT regarding road conditions before making the trip.  (NC Maritime Museum)

Foothills Folk Art Festival

October 6 – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Newton The third annual Foothills Folk Art Festival is expected to draw thousands of visitors from throughout the region. The event will showcase a variety of local and regional contemporary folk artists – whose work will be for sale – as well as artist demos, hands-on art activities for kids, two stages of live music, food from area restaurants and food truck vendors, beer gardens and more! Carolina Renaissance Festival

Sept 29 – Nov 18, Huntersville. This event is a cornucopia of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes.  Nearly 1,000 artists that specialize in all types of creative mediums work each Festival day to throw the region’s largest costume party.


The Lost Colony Wine & Culinary Festival

Sept 29 – Roanoke Island. Wines! Food! Music! Old World and New World wines from around the globe will be poured accompanied by local fare served with warm island hospitality. Enjoy breathtaking coastal views, and the engaging rhythms from our stage set against the backdrop of the Roanoke Sound. (NC Wine)
