October 6 – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The third annual Foothills Folk Art Festival in downtown Newton. This family-friendly festival, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors from throughout the region, will showcase a variety of local and regional contemporary folk artists – whose work will be for sale – as well as artist demos, hands-on art activities for kids, two stages of live music, food from area restaurants and food truck vendors, beer gardens and more! Sept 29 – Nov 18, Huntersville. This event is a cornucopia of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. Nearly 1,000 artists that specialize in all types of creative mediums work each Festival day to throw the region’s largest costume party.

Swan Creek Wine Trail Harvest Celebration
October 13 – Hamptonville. Join the Swan Creek Vineyards in celebrating the 2018 harvest season with new wine releases and complimentary seasonal refreshments at each vineyard. Participating wineries are Dobbins Creek, Laurel Gray, Shadow Springs and Windsor Run. (NC Wine)

Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair
Friday, October 26- Sunday, October 28. See spinning, knitting, weaving, felting, and much more. The event is located at the WNC Agricultural Center, in Fletcher, NC, across Hwy 280 from the Asheville Regional Airport. (Exit 40 off I-26). Admission will be $5/person per day. $10 pass for 3 days. Youth under 13 yrs. old will be free. (Quilters’ Travel Companion)
