Appalachian Folk Festival

The Vance Birthplace is in full color in the month of October, the perfect backdrop for celebrating mountain life and culture! This event is free and celebrates the traditions and experiences of the people who call the North Carolina mountains home. Programs and demonstrations will feature old-time music, local craftsmen, and artists. (NCDCR)

Cathedral Must Be Experienced In Person

For decades, people from all over North Carolina (and the world) have made it a point to see the famed Biltmore Estate in Asheville. But not everyone who visits Biltmore Estate actually stops in the quaint little village at the entrance to the Biltmore. The next time you head to the Biltmore, make time to explore the village and pay a visit to the Cathedral of All Souls. (Only In Your State)

Carolina Renaissance Festival

Sept 29 – Nov 18, Huntersville. This event is a cornucopia of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes.  Nearly 1,000 artists that specialize in all types of creative mediums work each Festival day to throw the region’s largest costume party.

Wine/Food

Yadkin Valley Grape Festival

October 20 – Yadkinville. The Annual Festival is a wine festival that showcases the excellent wines that are being produced in the Yadkin Valley. Yadkin Valley wineries will be in attendance along with food, entertainment, and specialty vendors. (NC Wine)

Quilting

Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair

Friday, October 26- Sunday, October 28. See spinning, knitting, weaving, felting, and much more. The event is located at the WNC Agricultural Center, in Fletcher, NC, across Hwy 280 from the Asheville Regional Airport. (Exit 40 off I-26). Admission will be $5/person per day. $10 pass for 3 days. Youth under 13 yrs. old will be free. (Quilters’ Travel Companion)
