Watch Her by Edwin Hill

If I only had one word to describe this book, it would be ‘subtle’. The author does a superb job of creating a story that just flows along with all the clues; and before you know it, you’re in the middle of several stories. Stories about mothers and daughters.

There is Barret, who is afraid to tell his mother he identifies as a male and is no longer his mother’s daughter. Vanessa and Rachel are sisters; daughters to Tucker and Jennifer Matson. They own Prescott University. Vanessa and Jennifer have a relationship that seems to be close, but is it really? Then there is Hester, the only mother to young Kate. Hester hates her mother. Looking after them all is Maxine, who regrets not having a closer relationship with her deceased mother.

But there are other relationships between these individuals that leave them in gray areas with each other. You’ll see when you read the book. All of them are at the center of the missing college students; who also have secrets. Where does Gavin, Vanessa’s husband fit into all this?

These are questions Angela and Stan must investigate. An investigation that takes them back a couple of decades to solve. And there might be a bit of cover-up by the police; but who were they protecting and were they protecting the right person?

This is my first time reading Edwin Hill and I loved this book. It is written so smoothly it takes the reader right into the guts of the story. Great writing! Enjoy.
